Takeover #1: Isabel

First off, thank you for all the love on mine and Skyla’s #halfthestory posts. (If you haven’t checked them out yet, what are you doing!? @isabeltuisl & @stillskyy on instagram!!!)

It was not at ALL for pity or to make you feel bad for me. So many people have reached out to me because of my story, and it has only been a few days. Imagine what we could do if everyone shared their stories everyday. Everyone would have compassion. The world would have emotion. We would all love each other and ourselves.

The intention of my post was to share my story, because i was tired of living in the dark. I wanted people to know that they are not alone and that other people around them are going through similar things. That is just life. That in order to share your own story you need to hear others’ stories and to teach people compassion and understanding of other people and vulnerability.

You are allowed to be happy. Whether you don’t think you deserve it because you have depression or because there’s something going on in your life, you are still allowed to be happy. Your mental illness does not define you. Just because your default emotion is usually not happy, does not mean you can’t ever be happy. Nor become happy. You can become happy and still be sad sometimes and still have bad days or weeks or even months. Emotions come in waves. You have to ride out the bad ones and enjoy the good ones. And that’s life. Especially when you’re depressed. But you are still allowed to be happy. And I am still learning this.

I want to end the negative stigmas attached to mental health issues. I want to create more self love and help others on their own journey’s. Bloom into your true self and share with others to create a beautiful love garden. xoxo Sky
